Diary Entry 70

‘Lord, I AM NOT worthy

that You should enter

under my roof’-

Yet, You linger

with mercy;

I ignore Your splendor,

awaiting some knock

of proof.

Help me to listen

and open sealed doors,

relying only on whispers,

those faith-filled calls.

Far too long recognition

falls on creaking floors

and those barren figures behind

voiceless walls.

When my hands

are wrecked with weakness,

please provide them Your strength.

When they tremble with fear

allow courage to guide

their timid reach.

And, when they doubt

You still wait for me

outside that closed door,

my contrite prayer to thee –

Lord, Your perpetual knocks

I’ll no longer ignore.
