Day 24: Unrest

My child, let us walk,

I will soon take My leave.

Wait, why do You say

that which makes my heart grieve?

Please, don’t go from me,

for what am I to do?

Every part of me, without You,

will crumble in rue.

And, when I am unsure,

or in darkness I travel.

Without Your guidance,

no light for

my soul to unravel.

I beg of You, stay,

never leave my side.

I will always prepare

a place for You to reside.

Joyful smile surrendered,

but His eyes begged - not long;

yet for some reason,

I realize His presence

will remain within - firm and strong.

An unmarked tear falls

from troubled cheek;

I really wasn’t quite sure

if it fell with warmth or bleak.

As I waited for that tear

to rupture the ground,

it landed in Waiting Hand

without a single sound.

Why do you cry

when you don't feel Me near?

Does My hand not

cradle your every falling tear?

Place your grip within mine,

gaze upon My embrace, for

I will NEVER leave you alone;

you’re forever stained with My grace.

Now, let Us go forth

with joy!

My dearest disciple,

let Us deploy!

And when you feel a distance,

or think I withdrew,

lift those cradled hands to Me,

for, no matter where I roam,

eternally I AM

with each and every one of YOU.

Before you begin your day:

Let us imagine a time when the Disciples developed within themselves unrest. There is a shift in Jesus's teachings. They take on a sense of urgency and preparation. They fester within them a question of finality. And, the answers bring no understanding or comfort. Can you imagine what they must have felt? Have you felt this way?

We can put ourselves in the Disciples shoes, but we don't ever consider filling them. This is where we are on our journey, walking in their shoes. Our Blessed Lord has asked you to follow Him. He did not say where the road would lead - He only asks that you grant Him your unfailing trust. Offer Him both hands, and surrender their lead to Him. Now, He tells you He must leave, if only for a bit.

Does this terrify you? I can imagine my life without Christ in it because I've lived there. Today, the very thought of returning overwhelms my body with an uncontrollable terror. But have we not all been here? Doubting His Way? Asking questions, for which, the answer brings no understanding or comfort. We often do not comprehend where He is leading us until we arrive on the other side of chaos. Furthermore, we can physically enter, and not be present spiritually. And, this is where we encounter His insight.

For the next several days, let us walk with the Disciples. Is that not what who we are? And do they not doubt, fear, and question our Lord along The Way? Re-read the verse of the poem below with angst. Allow your breath to become shallow. Feel the distress of the unknown. Listen as the Disciples - us - try and convince our Lord there is no need for Him to go. Observe your emotions as you attempt to understand; as you convey how His loss will affect you.

During your day:

A little while, and you will not see me no more;

again a little while, and you will see me.

Some [ ] said to one another,

"What is this that he says to us...

(John 16: 16-17)

Read the remainder John 16: 16-24

Throughout your day:

INHALE: I trust.

EXHALE: You guide.

(repeat as many times as needed)

Before you end your day:

When you feel a distance,

or think I withdrew,

lift your cradled hands to Me,

for, no matter where I roam,

eternally, my precious disciple,

I AM

always with YOU.

Amen.

Goodnight; sleep well; know you are blessed.
