In the spring time,
You tried to feed me,
but dismissing heart
The warmth of summer
brought sprouts of joy,
but lack of root
soul’s comfort destroyed.
The thorns of autumn,
the prick of fear,
choke this spirit;
are You even here?
Sorrow collects rocks,
seed will never sprout,
Your attempts to feed -
futile in heart’s drought.
Before you begin your day:
Let us pause today and rest. Use today as a time to consider these past days. Do you feel nourished? Can you perceive within renewal sprouting? Do you feel our Blessed Lord's presence? Is your heart quenched?
What do you desire from God as you continue growing? What does God desire from you? Choose a word or words from the poem that describe your needs at this moment; write it down on a piece of paper. If you still have the others from the previous weeks, attach them all together with this one on top. Keep them somewhere safe, so you might reflect on them later.
Remember as anything planted begins to grows, things will try and devour it, dryness will try and scorch its attempts, and vines will try and choke it out - if it is not deeply rooted in its place.
Spend a few quite moments with God. Let the Holy Spirit move you into conversation. Your voice? His voice? Speak and Listen.
During your day:
Reflect on any daily reading or devotional.
Throughout your day:
INHALE: You are deeply rooted within.
EXHALE: Plant me where I am needed.
(repeat as many times as needed)
Before you end your day:
Blessed Lord, thank you for this week. Help me to truly rest and reflect today. Guide my steps as We journey forward.
Goodnight; sleep well; know you are blessed.
